The City of Social Action seeks to make Manchester the place for youth voice, youth leadership and real change led by children and young people themselves. If young people are at the heart of their communities, shaping their futures, then those communities will be better for everyone.
Our City of Social Action project aims to put young people at the heart of Manchester. From big issues like climate change, to deciding what happens to their local park; too often, young people are excluded from decisions that affect their lives, and their voices aren’t heard on the issues that matter to them.
Particularly in Manchester, where 41% of our population is aged 25 or under, and nearly half of all children are living in poverty, we have challenges across the city that can’t be solved by one solution alone.
Through the #cityofsocialaction campaign we want to platform all the incredible work young people across the Manchester are doing to make change on issues that matter to them. And we're calling on those in power to commit to including young peoples' voices in their decision making as standard practice.

2️⃣ Commit to embedding youth voice in your organisations decision making
We've teamed up with the #iwill campaign to challenge organisations across Manchester to sign the Power of Youth Charter.
The Charter provides a framework for your organisation to empower more children and young people to shape decisions, take social action and make a positive difference.
Too often the voices of children and young people are excluded from the decisions that impact their lives. By signing the Power of Youth Charter you can make a public commitment to listen to the voices of children and young people, and challenge others to do the same!

3️⃣ Invest in young people and their ideas
Through the City of Social Action we want to support more funders to explore youth-led grantmaking and invest directly in young people and their ideas.
