What is Young Manchester?
Young Manchester is a membership organisation and a Young People’s Foundation (YPF). We exist to strengthen, connect and champion organisations and leaders of all ages, who are supporting and delivering for children and young people in Manchester.
Children & young people are at the heart of everything we do. Our young staff, trustees and ambassadors play a vital role in actively shaping our day-to-day activities as an organisation. From our pioneering City of Social Action campaign to the newly launched Membership offer, we continue to work collectively with our partners and stakeholders to ensure an ecosystem of outstanding opportunities is available to every young person in the city.

I am a young person looking to get involved in activism / community / volunteering work, what can you offer?
Here at Young Manchester we don’t position ourselves to offer the direct delivery of youth services, instead we work to champion other organisations in the city who work hands on with children & young people.
We are currently running a Young Ambassador programme as part of the City of Social Action campaign. The programme allows Young People in Manchester to learn more about social action, feel confident in voicing their opinions and be at the core of decision making for Young Manchester and across the city. Applications for our 2022 cohort of Ambassadors are now closed, however keep an eye on our social media to find out when they open in the future.
If you would like any advice or guidance with starting your activist journey, building connections in your community or approaching other organisations for volunteer work, you can get in touch with our Social Action Team via email at projectcoordinator@youngmanchester.org
I am a young person looking to apply to your City of Social Action Grants, is there someone who can support me?
Of course! For any questions or advice regarding our COSA Grant applications get in touch with our Social Action Coordinator Rachel (r.garbutt@youngmanchester.org) who will be happy to help.
