Place2Be
About Organisation
Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with over 27 years’ experience working with pupils, families, and staff in the UK. The organisation employs more than 500 staff and we currently work in 100+ schools across Greater Manchester.
Place2Be provides universal mental health support and targeted child counselling. Our therapeutic approach is a framework which underpins our whole school model and the range of interventions offered by our service. It has developed out of practice-based learning within Place2Be and is best described as integrative, drawing inspiration from a range of therapeutic perspectives and practice-based learnings. This means our counsellors can work with children and young people as individuals, they can decide after a mental health assessment which intervention is best for the individual child and work with them appropriately.
The effectiveness of our therapeutic approach is demonstrated by quantitative and qualitative evidence which is applied through a core set of therapeutic principles to meet the therapeutic requirements of the Place2Be whole school approach. Safe ethical practice is a priority and Place2Be abides by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.
