What You Can Expect

Intergenerational Networking: Not your usual networking - get to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds that have come together with the common goal of uplifting young people and voices in Manchester!

Hands On Creation: Making conversations and solutions in engaging, accessible ways is what we are all about! This night is a night for all voices to be heard.

Fun and Food: Of COURSE this event will be filled with top notch catering and activities all free of charge.

The W/Youth Steering Committee

To place community and youth co-ownership, W/Youth and it's launch event is governed and supported by it's Steering Committee.

This group meets monthly to provide direction for the organization and is comprised of young people and industry experts.

    Abdullah Abrar
    Co-Chair

    Abdullah is the Co-Chair of the W/Youth steering group and a Young Ambassador who is passionate about representing youth voices and creating positive change in the community. Through this role, he works to highlight the perspectives, needs, and bring forward new ideas of young people, helping to shape local initiatives and inspire meaningful improvements all while aiming towards staying committed to every project he takes on.

    Zainab Aamer
    Co-Chair

    Zainab is Manchester based Young Ambassador and Co-Chair of the w/Youth Steering Committee at Young Manchester, with a deep passion for diversity, equality, opportunity and inclusion. She is am committed to ensuring that young people’s voices are heard and embedded within youth work and decision making.

    Over the years, she has gained valuable experience through working in different areas of the Youth Sector such as peer reviewing with Greater Manchester Youth Network, Youth Work with Groundwork Greater Manchester and as a Green Leader and a member of Friends of Trafford Ecology and Conservation.

    These roles have built my strength in leadership, teamwork and community engagement and I enjoy working collaboratively with young people to make projects to create positive change and reflect Manchester’s social values of being equal and inclusive. I believe every young person should have equal access and opportunities to be heard and seen no matter their background or situation.

    In the future, I aim to work in urban planning to strive to improve accessibility within communities, support marginalised groups and help strengthen community voices ensuring that young people’s decisions are embedded more into shaping the places they live in.

    Hannah Yue

    Hannah is a firm believer that young people should play an integral role in decision-making and shaping their communities. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Greater Manchester Youth Combined Authority and is the founder of WeConnect, a youth-led initiative supporting immigrant students in navigating the UK education system.

  • Tabitha Reid
    Tabitha Reid

    Born and raised in Manchester, Tabitha first joined Young Manchester through a work experience placement. Her enthusiasm and commitment quickly led her to become an Ambassador, where she now helps represent young voices across the city.

    Tabitha is passionate about engineering and hopes to build a career in the field. When she’s not exploring how things work, she loves skiing and taking on new challenges both on and off the slopes.


  • Glyn Potts
    Glyn Potts

    Glyn has a wealth of senior leadership experience schools and organisations across the country. He is passionate about social mobility and an equitable education system. He has a Masters degree in Education Leadership and a second in Strategic Youth Leadership. He spends his spare time as an Army Cadet Officer within the Northwest as well as being a Trustee of various education establishments. In April 2025, Glyn became CEO of Greater Manchester Youth Federation, a youth charity that provides youth clubs and outdoor adventure activities for young people in the region. Glyn was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester in 2019 and awarded an MBE in 2022 for services to Education.

    Tabasum Khojani

    Born and raised in Manchester, Tabasum brings over two decades of strategic leadership in business development, project management, and ecosystem building to the Young Manchester board.

    Her career has been dedicated to delivering economic growth through innovation and management of complex multi-million-pound projects across Greater Manchester. She has a deep understanding of the city's landscape and specialises in building powerful partnerships between academia, industry, and the public sector to create measurable environmental, social and economic outcomes.

    Tabasum is deeply passionate about using this experience to support Young Manchester's mission, championing the potential of young people and helping to create a fairer, more vibrant future for all of Manchester's youth.

    Katie Poole

    Katie works in Communications and Engagement and is based in Greater Manchester. With experience in participation and social research, Katie loves using creative approaches to understand people’s views and make sure their voices influence what really matters. Passionate about projects that promote fairness and genuine collaboration, Katie is all about making things happen together.
